For three years, with funding from Ezra Uganda Assistance, Namutumba's Rabbi Shadrach Mugoya studied in the ALEPH: Alliance for Jewish Renewal Ordination Program. Rabbi Shadrach then studied privately with the president of Ezra Uganda Assistance, Rabbi Leila Gal Berner. For a variety of reasons, Shadrach was unable to complete his ordination studies, but he serves admirably as the rabbi of the Abayudaya community in Namatumba and continues his study of Judaism. Ezra Uganda Assistance hopes to be able to fund the completion of Rabbi Shadrach's ordination studies.
