Granary

We provided the funds for the construction of a community granary so that each family can safely store surplus from their harvests.

It is a fact of subsistence agriculture that each annual crop is not guaranteed to be enough to feed everyone for a year. There are years of plenty and there are years of drought and little to no yield.

By funding the construction of a community granary, Ezra Uganda Assistance has made it possible for the people of Namutumba to put aside surpluses of food in good years to tide them over through the bad times. By providing a large, safe storage space, the granary also gives the community to potential to develop agricultural cultivation as a source of income through sale of surplus yields.

See below for photos of the granary, inside and out, and of its construction process.
